Description and Itinerary: The tour starts from your accommodation in Belgrade and takes you to some of the most important landmarks in the northern Serbian province of Vojvodina. It includes 3 major stops at Sremski Karlovci, the Petrovaradin Fortress and Novi Sad followed by a sightseeing car ride across Fruska Gora Mountain and the endless Panonian Plain.

Sremski Karlovci, located between the green slopes of Fruška Gora Mountain and the blueness of the Danube River is famous for its good wine, architecture and cultural monuments. This is one of the most picturesque towns in Serbia’s Vojvodina region with its numerous well preserved and richly decorated baroque buildings. Quiet, sleepy town will impress and surprise you with its significant historical role. Since Sremski Karlovci is traditionally focused on vine production, wine tasting in an authentic wine cellar is optionally organized.

The Petrovaradin Fortress, exceptional work of the 18th-century fortification engineering is one of the largest, most complex and best preserved artillery bastions in this part of Europe. This mighty fortification on the right bank of the Danube River has been constructed by Austo-Hungarians in order to protect Empire’s southern borders. Due to its strategic position and importance the fortress had for the Hapsburg Monarchy, it was nicknamed “Gibraltar on the Danube”. The Petrovaradin also hosts Novi Sad’s widely popular EXIT Festival every July.

Novi Sad is the second largest city in Serbia and the capital of the autonomous province of Vojvodina. It is an administrative, economic, cultural, scientific and touristic center with a population between 300,000 and 400,000 inhabitants. Elegant and easygoing, it is often referred to as “Serbian Athens” due to its remarkable culture and history. Architecture from the 19th century dominates the city center, Liberty Square and colorful main pedestrian Zmaj Jovina Street. Among other cities it’s selected as one of the “European Capital of Culture” for the year 2021.
