Description and Itinerary: The tour starts from your accommodation in Belgrade and takes you to some of the most important landmarks in the city. It includes 3 major stops at the Gardos Tower, the Temple of Saint Sava and the Kalemegdan Fortress each followed by a sightseeing car ride across the main city areas.

The Gardos Tower or Millennium Tower was built in 1896 to celebrate a thousand years of the Hungarian settlement in the Pannonian plain and it represents a visual and historical symbol of Zemun. Four such towers were erected on the border and this one was used to mark the southernmost corner of the Empire. This beautiful structure stands at the highest point of the municipality of Zemun providing all visitors a spectacular and certainly unforgettable view. Area around the tower features a broad array of small cafés and fish restaurants.

The Temple of Saint Sava is the largest Serbian Orthodox church and one of the largest Orthodox churches in the world. It was raised on the spot where it is thought that in 1595 Ottomans burned the relics of Saint Sava, the founder of the Serbian Orthodox Church. Its monumental walls bring thousands of worshipers together and its magnificent appearance and sacred spirit protect the sky above Serbia’s capital. This memorial cathedral is an authentic part of Belgrade’s contemporary skyline, and one of its key features.

The Kalemegdan is Belgrade’s central park and fortress complex laying on a ridge overlooking the Sava and Danube confluence. Conquerors, armies and people had left their mark, hence the historical layers that were left by the Romans, Serbs, Turks, Austro-Hungarians lay one beneath another. Today the fortress is a unique museum of the history of Belgrade. This citadel provides a fantastic panorama of the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers, and of New Belgrade and Zemun. Destroyed and rebuilt numerous times, the fortress became the symbol of the city that keeps raising and growing.
